Call for Papers: Fishery Modernization

Fishery Modernization, established in 1973, is supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and hosted by the Fisheries Machinery and Instrument Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences. It is indexed in prestigious databases such as Chinese Science and Technology Core Journals, Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD), Peking University Chinese Core Journals, RCCSE Chinese Core Academic Journals, Chinese Agricultural and Forestry Core Journals, and the EBSCO database. Published bimonthly and distributed both domestically and internationally, the journal focuses on fishery equipment and aquaculture engineering, featuring original research papers and reviews on topics such as recirculating aquaculture systems, pond ecological farming, offshore aquaculture, fishing vessels and capture, aquatic product distribution and processing, and fishery informatization.

1. Basic Requirements

(1) Online Submission: Manuscripts must be submitted and reviewed online and must not have been previously published.
(2) Authorship: All authors must have contributed to the paper and agree to its submission.
(3) Content Quality: Papers must present clear viewpoints, detailed materials, accurate data, and logical arguments.
(4) Review Papers: Review papers should cover the latest research progress in fishery and aquaculture fields, predict future trends, and offer insightful evaluations based on the author’s research.
(5) Bilingual Requirements: Titles, authors, affiliations, abstracts, keywords, figure captions, and table titles must be provided in both Chinese and English.
(6) Academic Integrity: Authors must avoid plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, multiple submissions, duplicate publication, and violations of research ethics.
(7) Eligibility: Review papers submitted by master’s students as first authors will no longer be accepted.
(8) Author Qualifications: The first or corresponding author of review papers must hold a deputy senior (or higher) professional title.

2. Responsibilities and Rights

(1) Author Responsibility: Authors are responsible for the content of their manuscripts. The editorial department may edit, modify, or abridge the text per the Copyright Law. Authors objecting to such changes must state this upon submission.
(2) Publication Timeline: If no response is received within 3 months of submission, authors may handle their manuscript as they see fit. A page charge will be levied based on the published page count, and separate remuneration will be provided.
(3) Copyright: Upon publication, the journal may include the paper in relevant networks, databases, or CD versions. Copyright usage fees are included in the remuneration. Authors with objections must declare this at submission.
(4) Priority Publication: Papers supported by national or provincial special funds will be prioritized for publication.

3. Writing Requirements

(1) Author Details: Clearly state author names, order, affiliations, city, postal code, fund project names, and numbers. Provide the first and corresponding authors’ names, birth years, gender, titles, degrees, research areas, and email addresses.
(2) Abstracts: Follow GB6447—86 guidelines. Abstracts (≤400 words) must be independent and self-explanatory, excluding figures, tables, formulas, and non-standard symbols. Include research purpose, methods, results, and conclusions. English abstracts follow the same rules.
(3) Keywords: Select 3–8 keywords based on GB/T3860—2009 and CY/T 173 standards. Keywords should reflect the paper’s main themes and be ordered by relevance.
(4) Structure: Research papers should include Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion. Review papers should include Background/Current Status, Data Sources, Analysis, Trend Analysis, and Conclusion.
(5) Figures and Tables: Titles must be concise and bilingual. Figures should be clear and self-explanatory; tables should use a three-line format, avoiding vertical or diagonal lines. Content must align with the text.
(6) Units and Measurements: Follow GB3100~3102—93 and international standards. Use units like km2, m3, L, d, h, min, s, and r/min.
(7) Formulas: Use letter symbols for formulas, explaining their meanings and units. Physical quantities are denoted by italic letters; non-physical quantities may use Chinese terms.
(8) References: Include relevant, recent, and publicly available literature. Use sequential numbering. List the first three authors; use “et al.” for additional authors. Western names should be in the order of surname followed by initials. Journal names must be in full. Specify reference types (e.g., [M] for monographs, [J] for journal articles). Follow GB/T 7714—2015 for formatting. For other norms, refer to GB/T 7713.2—2022.
