With the growing of population and the continuous improving of living standards in China, the demands for high quality seafood are also increasing continuously. China has about 3 million square kilometers of marine territory, which has not been fully exploited so far. Thus expanding the utilization of the blue ocean resources, developing offshore aquaculture especially deep sea aquaculture, and alleviating the pressure of food security will be the development priorities of aquaculture in the future. In order to fulfill the abovementioned goals, the development of modern technology and offshore aquaculture facilities & equipment will be needed. This paper mainly introduces the development status, main problems and development needs of the facilities & equipment of raft culture, cage culture, and deep sea farming in China during the 12th five-year-plan period, analyzes the current development status in foreign countries, and offers some proposals for future development.
