In order to improve the efficiency of outdoor large-scale culture of Isochrysis zhanjiangensis, comparation of cell density for I. zhanjiangensis large-scale outdoor cultivation was conducted in present study, under three modes that including pipeline photobioreactor, polyethylene bucket and cement tank. The density of inoculated algae was 10.0×104 cells/mL and the cultivation experiment was lasted for 16 d. And in pipeline photobioreactor mode for I. zhanjiangensis, the highest productivity and specific growth rate were 0.054 3 g/L/d and 0.276 7 µ/d respectively, with 3.70×106 cells/mL for cell density and 1.90 mg/L, 0.94 mg/L, 0.95 mg/L, for total chlorophyll contents, chlorophyll a and b respectively. The maximum biomass dry weight was observed to 0.727 0 g/L, while 159.125 5 mg/L for the maximum total protein content and 42.862 7 mg/L for the maximum soluble sugar content. The best production was gain under the pipeline photobioreactor mode, followed by the cement pond mode. The pipeline photobioreactor mode is more helpful to improve productivity and accumulation for biomass and cell chlorophyll, compared with polyethylene bucket and cement tank culture mode. Furthermore, pipeline photobioreactor mode is easier to operate with high space utilization. In conclusion, pipeline photobioreactor mode is more suitable for I. zhanjiangensis large-scale outdoor cultivation, and support the development of mechanized and intelligent technology for microalgae production in the future.
