Abstract

The PA monofilament netting has good properties of fishing material and has potential in reducing drag and consumption of fishing gear. Through flume experiments, the hydrodynamic variation rules of 7 PA monofilament double-knotted nettings with different linear area coefficients (α=0.050~0.173) were designed and studied, and the hydrodynamic properties of PA multifilament single-knotted netting, UHMWPE multifilament single-knotted netting and PE twisted netting were compared and analyzed. It was found that when the PA monofilament double-knotted nettings were vertical to the water flow, drag coefficients CD90 were in the range of 1.043~1.411, positively correlated with the linear area coefficients; when they were parallel to the water flow, drag coefficients CD0 were in the range of 0.223~0.359, negatively correlated with the linear area coefficients, thus proving that the linear area coefficients had a double influence on drag properties of netting; when the PA monofilament double-knotted nettings were placed at an angle to the water flow, the drag coefficients increased as attack angle increased, and the lift coefficient CLθ increased first and then decreased, and reached the maximum at 50°. In the flume experiment of 3 different nettings, when the netting was vertical to the water flow, the drag coefficient of PA monofilament double-knotted netting was 9.8% smaller than that of PA multifilament single-knotted netting, 17.3% greater than that of UHMWPE multifilament single-knotted netting and 14.7% smaller than that of PE twisted netting; when the netting was parallel to the water flow, the drag coefficient of PA monofilament double-knotted netting was 16.6% greater than that of PA multifilament single-knotted nettings, 35.3% greater than that of UHMWPE multifilament single-knotted netting, and 21.2% smaller than that of PE twisted netting. Therefore, it is shown that under the same conditions, PA monofilament netting can reduce the flow resistance, which provides a theoretical basis for the design, manufacture and application of PA monofilament netting gear.
