Abstract

In order to improve the automation degree and cleaning effect of the mussel cleaning process and reduce the labor intensity of the workers, a new drum-type mussel cleaning equipment that integrates the dispersing and cleaning processes has been designed. The friction cleaning method is used instead of the current vibration cleaning method. After cleaning, there are fewer attachments and byssus connections on the surface of the mussels. This equipment improves the  automation degree of cleaning process and reduces the staffing of the processing. At the same time, the equipment covers a smaller area. Solidworks software and Simulation module are used to carry out three-dimensional modeling of the equipment and finite element simulation of related parts, and prototypes and related experiments are performed on the equipment. The results show that during the cleaning process, the number of mussels damaged is directly proportional to the rotation speed of the drum, and the time used for cleaning is inversely proportional to the rotation speed of the drum. Combining the two curves of the number of damage and the cleaning time, the optimal rotation speed of the drum is determined to be 30r/min, the optimal cleaning time 32s, and the cleaning speed 375 pieces/min (about 25kg /min). The equipment is of great significance for the development of the mussel on-board processing model.
