Abstract

The growth, survival rate, serum immunity and antioxidant enzymes, and economic benefits of Oplegnathus punctatus (350.6 ± 24.3 g) reared in recirculating aquaculture system and offshore aquaculture net pen were investigated to evaluate the technical feasibility of the land-sea alternate mariculture model for Spotted knifejaw, Oplegnathus punctatus. Results showed that the average individual weight of Oplegnathus punctatus reached (547.6 ± 25.2) g and the survival rates reached 95.8 % in the recirculating aquaculture system, while the average individual weight of Oplegnathus punctatus reached (735.7 ± 27.9) g and the survival rates reached 98.3 % in land-sea alternate aquaculture after 120 days culture. The contents of serum lysozyme (LZS), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and catalase (CAT) in land-sea alternate aquaculture were significantly higher than those in recirculating aquaculture system (P< 0.05), 40.5%, 43.2%, 42.3%, and 39.8%, respectively. In addition, the net profit of land-sea alternate aquaculture was 128.34% higher than that of recirculating aquaculture. The results indicated that the optimal growth performance, strong immunity, antioxidant activities and high economic benefits of Oplegnathus punctatus were obtained under the land-sea alternate aquaculture model, which provides the theoretical basis and data support for land-sea alternate aquaculture of Oplegnathus punctatus.
