In marine aquaculture, the netting bears the load brought by the current and wave, which may cause damage to the netting. Therefore, hydrodynamic characteristics of netting have been of great concern in marine aquaculture equipment system. The research results on hydrodynamic characteristics of marine aquaculture netting at home and abroad are summarized, the main theories, mathematical models, physical experimental researches, related practical application cases and development trends of hydrodynamic performance of netting at home and abroad are introduced, and corresponding suggestions are put forward for further research in this field. It is considered that large seine aquaculture and deep ocean ultra-large net cage are future development trend. On the one hand, it is necessary to carry out the research on the combination form of cost-effective netting of various materials; on the other hand, it is suggested to carry out the research on the damage mechanism of marine aquaculture netting caused by irregular waves, typhoons and other extreme environments. This paper can provide reference for the in-depth research of marine aquaculture netting and the sustainable and healthy development of the industry.
